NBECC operates under the direction of it's Board of Regents, made up of experienced health care, legal and business professionals representing a wide range of expertise. Regents contribute direction in the areas of medicine, nursing, science and adult education. In addition, the Board contains several members at large to address general public issues and provide balance.
All emergency care training programs must be based solely on the most recent published nationally recognized clinical recommendations to qualify for approval. The purpose is to assure consistency throughout the global health care network. Organizations that seek to modify their programs may do so by submitting acceptable clinical/academic evidence to support their request to the NBECC Director of Standards. After Board review, approval may be granted. Organizations with such variances are required to identify the non-standard material clearly in their training materials and teaching programs.
